Summer is basically here! Time for pool days, beach days, BBQ’s and gorgeous sunset sessions. I was beyond thrilled to photograph Lauren’s maternity session with her little guy, Declan. The two beamed with joy. Lauren is so beautiful, she made the session so easy. She is also the daughter of a photographer, so when I told her what to do and how to pose, she didn’t need much guidance! She was a natural. We chose to shoot this session near her home in Delaware County, outside of Philadelphia at Ridley Creek Park Mansion. The background was absolutely breathtaking with gardens, fountains and beautiful architecture that makes you dream of a time past. I provided her outfits, a benefit of shooting with my studio 😉
The best time to shoot sessions outside is at sunset or sunrise during “Golden Hour.” I am personally more of a night owl, so sunset is mostly the time for me. The reason photographers prefer to shoot at this time is for the quality of light. When the sun is setting or rising, we are able to catch that first or last little glimpse of golden glow. The light is perfect for portraits wether it be maternity, family, senior pics, you name it!
I love photographing maternity sessions. It is such a special time for mom, dad, siblings and the baby. I know that when I was expecting, one of the last things I wanted to do was step in front of a camera, but man, I wish I had! I would love to have gorgeous maternity photos of my little ones before they were born. To remember what life was like on that short and sometimes very long wait for little one to arrive. Feeling the movements and loving every little kick and turn. In all reality, this session is really for your baby, and that is WHY you should do a maternity session! When he/she is old enough to ask for photos from when they were little or before they were born, you will have beautiful images to show and reflect back on. Our time on this earth is so fleeting, best to make it last with pictures! To book your maternity session, please click here.
